On Location
Childhood DENIED explores the sorrows and joys of their experiences from Soviet Russia to a refugee camp in Tengeru, Africa, and their eventual freedom and resettlement in Canada.
It combines archival footage and dramatization with present-day interviews to capture a child’s perspective and innocence. Shot on location in Canada, the USA, and Poland, authentic settings included a cattle car used to deport people to Siberia, the Majdanek Nazi concentration camp in Lublin, and a country home in Eastern Poland.
